CEO & Founder: Michael Cully
Michael Cully is a C-Level international business executive with expertise in implementing new business strategies from the ground up for organizations ranging from startups to large multinational companies. He has expertise in global business development, brand strategy, distribution channel development, corporate sustainability, government/public affairs, and corporate development. Michael has had repeated success in building multinational teams, establishing distribution networks across multiple regions, and launching new products, growing businesses profitably worldwide.
Prior to Susterre, Michael served as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Growers, a startup focused on software and data analytics in the ag sector. Growers was successfully sold to a multinational corporation in 2020. Prior to Growers, Michael held positions with JCB, AGCO Corporation, the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) and Andersen Consulting. Michael has lived and worked in Belarus and Ukraine and is fluent in the Russian language.
Michael has an M.A. from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. from Princeton University.
Product Manager: Jeffrey Martel
Jeff Martel is a self-taught innovator with expertise in creating solutions for industrial and agricultural challenges. He has substantial experience in industrial automation and automated material removal mostly using industrial robots. Jeff has exposure to many industries from hand grenade assembly to agricultural soil cutting and pretty much everything in between.
Jeff is currently the Applications Manager for I-Cubed Industry Innovators and is responsible for creating solutions to challenging industrial problems. This includes conceptual designs, layouts, time cycle analysis, robot simulations or actual live proof of conceptual demonstrations as well as providing accurate costing estimates and delivery schedules.
Prior to I-Cubed, Jeff spent 20 years working in a variety of roles, including Global OEM Product Manager at Flow International in the automation, material removal, and waterjet cutting divisions.
During his career, Jeff learned about the need to cut through heavy residues in no-till planting operations and set about working on a solution. Jeffrey has remained committed to the development of a commercially available system.
Engineering Manager: Matthew Popper
Matthew Popper is part of the mechanical engineering department at I-Cubed, where he develops, designs, tests, builds, and implements machinery for many different industries. Matt focuses on integrating the automation of tasks into client’s businesses in the manufacturing and assembly sectors.
Matt also operates Popper Family Farms with his wife and kids. In his off time, his experiments lead to better no-till practices for his region. He is the current President of Hamilton-Wentworth Soil and Crop Improvement Association, engaging with his community to improve farmers’ futures with a passion for their profitability while improving environmental practices. Prior to I-Cubed, Matthew farmed full time with his father on their 1200-acre grain farming operation.
Matt has been heavily involved with the I-Cubed team in developing and applying high-pressure fluid jet technology to the agricultural planting sector for the last four years. From design to operations, he has been integral in the project’s advancement. He is excited to see the technology gain more proven success, acceptance and found benefits for the industry in the future.
Matt has a B. Eng in Mechanical Engineering from University of Ontario Institute of Technology and is currently enrolled in the Professional Engineers of Ontario, Engineer in Training (EIT) working towards a P. Eng designation.
Vice President of Finance (part time): Monte Wilson
As the Chief Financial Officer for AVAC Group, Monte Wilson directs all back-office reporting functions and audit procedures for AVAC’s operations, fund of funds and direct investment portfolio. Monte is the primary contact for corporate insurance as well as oversees tax compliance for the companies in the AVAC Group. He brings 30 years of experience of financial and management reporting and administration covering a variety of industries and organizations.
Monte received his CPA CA designation in 1991 while working with Deloitte and Touche and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. Monte has past experience as a Controller/CFO of a privately-owned oil and gas services company as well as head office experience with a multi-national environmental company and a multi-national real estate company.
